The Life
Christianity isn't:
- Religion (Religion = rules, formulas and rituals and that's NOT us at all)
- Having to give up all the fun stuff and start wearing unfashionable clothes (this seems to tie-in with 'religion')
- Beating yourself up every time you make a mistake (Christ died once to save us all from that)
- Condemning people who don't agree with us (God has plenty to say on this subject)
- Being perfect (or at least pretending that you are)
- Becoming a door-mat (there is actually a difference between turning the other cheek and letting folks walk all over you!)
- Being nice on Sundays and behaving badly the rest of the week (no matter what you've seen to the contrary)
- Waiting until you're 'good enough' before you can join the club (it would be a pretty small club if that were the case)
- Bashing non-believers over the head with our Bibles.
Christianity is:
- A never-ending and incredibly wonderful journey
- A complete bargain (never did you get so much in return for so little)
- A place of safety, reassurance, peace, forgiveness and above all LOVE (basically the best relationship you'll ever enter into)
- Personal (none of us have the same experience because each one of us is wonderfully unique and God made us that way for a very good reason)
This, of course, is just the start. There are lots of resources and links on this site to help you if you want to find out more. If what you're looking for is not here, please e-mail us at: team@oaktreeministry.org.uk
